In addition to composing the music for Far Cry 5, my friend Dan Romer wrote 10 folk hymns based on a fictional bible for Eden's Gate (the game's fictional cult). Dan asked me to orchestrate some of this music which is now available as a separate album. As a long time Far Cry player (those malaria pills were sure hard to come by in the Savanna) it was a tremendous privilege to be a part of this project. The game will be available on March 27th, can't wait to play it!
King In The Wilderness
Earlier this winter I orchestrated King In The Wilderness, a documentary on Doctor King's final years prior to his assassination. The music was written by composer Saul Simon MacWilliams. MLK is one of the greatest figures of American history, it really was an honor to be part of a project that enlightens a lesser known part of his life. The documentary will premiere at Sundance 2018.
Efi dæmisaga
It's always great to inaugurate the new year with a new project, especially if it involves working with a talented friend like Veigar Margeirsson. He wrote the music for "Efi dæmisaga" , and adaptation of Doubt by John Patrick Shanley. I got to do some orchestration and music prep. The play will premiere on January 13th at the National Theather of Iceland.
Godless
Earlier this year I had the pleasure to assist orchestrator extraordinaire Jeremy Levy on Godless, a Netflix produced 7 episode miniseries. Jeremy is a fellow University of Miami alumnus, and one of the first people I met here in LA. He's also one of those who first introduced me to the mysteries of orchestration, so it was great to get a chance to work with him. The music was composed by Carlos Rafael Rivera, whom I met back in my days as a grad student in Miami. UM represent!
40th Kennedy Center Honors Award Ceremony
I had some fun copying and preparing some cool charts for this year's Kennedy Center Honor Awards Ceremony. Congrats to the honoree Carmen de Lavallade, Gloria Estefan, LL COOL J, Norman Lear, and Lionel Richie. Quite a line up!
The Good Doctor
Very excited to share that I've been working as orchestrator for ABC's "The Good Doctor". Dan Romer is a terrific composer, and a great person to work with -truly an honor to collaborate with his team.
This is also a very important milestone for me: the first TV series I work on as main orchestrator. Delivering a new episode each week requires a massive effort for all departments involved. Being a part of this process, and seeing how viewers react to each episode as the story becomes more and more meaningful to them, has been a very satisfying experience. Here's a short excerpt from the show:
Ready Player One - Trailer
I recently had the pleasure to assist orchestrators Tim Davies and Jeremy Levy in the making of the trailer for Ready Player One (music composed by Veigar Margeirsson and Tony Fiala). Spielberg is a giant of modern cinematography, his works always have a way to re-imagine pop culture, and the way we think of films. I grew up watching Hook, A.I., Saving Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, etc. so being involved in the making of the trailer for one of his movies was a very special experience. Congrats to my friends at Pitch Hammer Music for the placement. I'm excited to see this!
Off the Menu
My grandma always said "Food is love". Turns out she's not the only to see it that way -it happens to be one of the lines from this indie movie I had the opportunity to work on. I orchestrated it for composer Dave Holden, a fellow Berklee alumni. It was a fun time!
Hypnotized & El Dia del Tremblor
Just finished recording the music for Hypnotized and El Dia Del Tremblor. Both movies were scored by Carlo Siliotto. The first one is a comedy, the latter is a historical drama -it was fun to orchestrate music on such different ends of the sonic spectrum. Carlo is one of the first people I met in Los Angeles, and it's always a pleasure getting to work with him.
Moments - Thomson Campaign. Abbey Road, a first time for everything!
I had the pleasure to orchestrate Biggi Hilmar's composition "A Day in The Sun" for Moments, Thomson's ad campaign. Big thanks to Veigar Margeirsson, who also co-orchestrated the music and conducted the session, for bringing me in to help. This project was a small milestone for me, being the first time I worked on a recording session at Abbey Road studios. Unfortunately I couldn't be there in person, it'll be for next time!
